Brief data center outage planned for May 1

Some University systems & services will experience brief blips in connectivity from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021, as Network Services technicians connect new routers and move data center equipment.

Services access that will be affected on May 1:

  • Banner
  • DegreeWorks
  • FutureFortyNiner portal
  • Perceptive Content
  • all Drupal web pages
  • VPN services
  • local file storage (J:, H: & S: drives)
  • wired/wireless networks 

Services access that will not be affected :

  • Gmail and Google apps
  • Canvas, Webex
  • Zoom
  • campus phones

The new data center is equipped with 1,700 kilowatts of power and cooling and serves as the nucleus for data vital to UNC Charlotte’s operations.
